What Is Screen Enclosure Footer?
A screen enclosure footer is the concrete foundation that anchors the aluminum frame to the ground.
Footers (also called footings) are concrete pads poured into the ground to anchor a screen enclosure frame. They provide the structural foundation that transfers wind loads and the weight of the enclosure into the ground. Footer size and depth are specified by the structural engineer based on soil conditions and wind load requirements. In Central Florida, footers typically need to be 12-18 inches deep and 12-18 inches in diameter. Footer failure (sinking, cracking, or shifting) is one of the main causes of enclosure leaning.
